NEWSNIGHT host Emily Maitlis dazzled in a check-print two-piece and sky high stilettos as she let slip Prince Andrew’s postive reaction to her bombshell interview.
In November, the BBC anchor headed to Buckingham Palace for a one to one chat about the royal’s friendship with Jeffrey Epstein, the now deceased convicted sex offender.
Since their infamous interview, Epstein’s former associate Ghislaine Maxwell has been arrested and denied bail with Princess Beatrice’s father retiring from public life.
Speaking in the aftermath of the groundbreaking journalistic moment, Emily, 49, switched her traditional telly attire for something a little more glam in the latest issue of Tatler Magazine.
She accessorised with long black gloves and a back hat for the stylish shoot, which sees her perched at a desk filled with papers and joined by an adorable dog.
In the accompanying interview, the Airhead author said of Prince Andrew’s reaction to their must-watch chat that he “was very pleased.”
Emily added: “He was actually so generous with his time.
“He took us on a tour of the extraordinary corridor of Buckingham Palace, he pointed out the statues, the staircases and where the Queen has her audiences with prime ministers – he said to me, “Next time you come, we’ll talk about Prince Albert.
“He was the entrepreneur of the family.””
Talking of securing the huge broadcasting scoop in the first place, she added: “You’re so determined not to miss a beat, to check with yourself you haven’t used the wrong tone or got something stupendously wrong, that actually you’re not sitting there grinning, thinking, “Hahaha! That’s amazing!”’”
During the interview Prince Andrew denied having sexual relations with Virginia Giuffre, one of Jeffrey Epstein’s victims, on three separate occasions – twice while she was underage.
The Duke of York said one encounter in 2001 did not happen as he spent the day with his daughter Princess Beatrice, taking her to Pizza Express in Woking for a party – an alibi that went on to be ridiculed by many.
He also said a “peculiar medical condition” triggered by being shot at in the Falklands War meant he could not have “sweated profusely” — as she has claimed.
He appeared to suggest a photo of them at a friend’s flat in 2001 could have been faked. Asked about claims that they had sex, he said: “I can absolutely categorically tell you it never happened.”
Additionally, Andrew told Emily he did not regret his friendship with the late Epstein.
And he did not believe the scandal had affected the Queen’s standing — but said it had damaged his mental health.
It comes as the Duke’s PR advisor Jason Stein confirmed he had resigned two weeks ago after warning Andrew not to do the car crash interview – despite his aides gushing over the chat the day after.
