GEORDIE Shore stars are “banned” from Strictly Come Dancing as one of the show’s stars Holly Hagan said they “won’t have any of us”.
The MTV favourite claimed the lairy lot would “never” be allowed to star in the BBC series – despite TV bosses lifting the ban on reality stars this year.
In a video chat for Heat Magazine, Holly was joined by co-stars Nathan Henry and Sophie Kasaei.
Bride to be Holly asked the question: “Who is most likely to go on Strictly?” as Nathan swiftly replied: “None of us, they wont have any of us.”
She agreed and added: “We would never get on, we are from Geordie Shore.”
Meanwhile Sophie quipped: “Nathan you would love to wear those little heels,” to which he gushed: “The Cuban outfits yes I’d love that.”
In 2018, The Sun exclusively revealed how the TOWIE cast and other reality TV favourites had been banned from the glitzy programme.
Producers imposed an all-out reality ban tafter wannabes including ex-Towie Z-lister Sam Faiers tried to use the Strictly name for personal publicity.
Back then, a Strictly source said: “Certain reality celebrities have been peddling these stories about being ‘in talks’ for the show when they have never been approached.
“Bosses are now fed up of hearing the same people bandying around their own names just to shift a few copies of some weight-loss DVD. In light of this, they’ve put in place their own reality star ban to stop them from cashing in on the show.”
Head judge Craig Revel Horwood also dug in the knife, previously saying reality stars were not “high calibre” enough to take part in the celebrity competition.
Yet in the midst of the coronavirus pandemic and a struggle for stars, the ban was lifted this year.
This summer, Love Island star Molly Mae Hague and TOWIE legend Gemma Collins were both tipped for Strictly spots – though none have been confirmed as yet,
In recent years, Strictly has included social media influencers and Youtubers such as Saffron Barker and Joe Sugg.
Then last year, Jamie Laing, a Made In Chelsea cast member, was due to dance with Moti Mabuse before he injured his leg in rehearsals.
He is now confirmed for the 2020 line-up for his second stab at the show title.
A source told The Sun at the time: “They said previously that low-rent reality stars like Jamie would not be allowed on the show but things now seem to have changed.
“There’s only so many famous faces out there so clearly they have decided enough is enough and have had to retreat a bit in order to get enough celebs this year.”
The Sun Online has gone to the BBC for comment.
