Good Morning Britain’s Susanna Reid reveals she’s put on 10lbs during lockdown but says she’s much happier

SUSANNA Reid has revealed she’s put on 10lbs during lockdown – but is much happier for it.

The 49-year-old explained how content she has become in shunning social occasions, including appearances on the red carpet, in the wake of the Covid-19 pandemic.

Enjoying life at a slower pace, Susanna admitted she swapped FOMO (fear of missing out) for “FOGO (fear of going out)”.

Recalling her last red carpet in March before lockdown, Susanna wrote in her column for The Mail that the glitz and glamour she showed at the TRIC awards are a “distant memory”.

She penned: “It’s a description that makes me laugh out loud right now, since I’ve piled on the Covid 10lb and my weekly spray tans are a distant memory.

“Honestly though? I’m happier like this.”

She added that she still gets to “dress-up” for her role on Good Morning Britain but she looks forward to taking her “armour” off and staying in her loungewear.

“My work means that a dressy outfit and full face of make-up is everyday wear, even in lockdown,” she wrote.”

“But it’s such a relief to take it all off after the show and know there’s no prospect of having to find a second wind at the other end of the day, putting the armour back on again.”

In January, Susanna revealed she put on half a stone but would “accept” her new weight.

Susanna had shed a stone-and-a-half stone last year by hitting the gym and giving up carbs and booze – but said she was content after piling on the pounds over Christmas.

The host said she let her strict food regime go over the festive period.

Susanna told viewers at the time: “I have put on half a stone over Christmas, and I am wearing it proudly.

“I’m all about anti-resolutions. No goals. I’m not going to do some crazy park run exercise regime, I’m just going to accept it.

Susanna previously shared the secrets of her exercise-free weight loss.

Mum-of-three Susanna quit alcohol and said she felt sharper and more healthy without it.

She also cut out carb-laden meals and stopped snacking to help her slim down without the need for sweaty work out sessions.

The telly beauty told the Daily Express before Christmas: “I wanted to shift some weight and as part of that I gave up drink…

“I’ve stopped snacking between meals and I am eating more sensibly too.”
