Jorgie Porter opens up about her surprise at naturally becoming pregnant with quads and her heartbreak at losing them at 14 weeks.

Jorgie Porter admitted two years ago that she had no plans to become a mother.

She said in an interview at the time, “I don’t get excited about babies.”

“Raising a human is a terrifying prospect.”

But in the last 13 months, not only has the Hollyoaks actress had a complete change of heart after falling in love with property developer Ollie Piotrowski, 32, but the couple has also had to deal with the shock of finding out they were expecting quadruplets and then the trauma of Jorgie, 33, miscarrying them all.

It’s been a difficult time, and any relationship would be put to the test.

It has brought Jorgie and Ollie even closer together.

She tells Fabulous in her first interview since their loss in August, “If we can get through this, we can get through anything.”

Jorgie wasn’t convinced she wanted to be a mother when she first met Ollie in October of last year.

Everything changed after seven months.

“It was a big moment when Ollie said he could see himself having children with me,” Jorgie says, “because I felt like I absolutely wanted children with him, too.”

“I remember thinking to myself as I drove to work, ‘I want to come off the Pill.’ I’d only been dating him for a year, but I knew I wanted him to father my children.”

Jorgie stopped taking her oral contraceptive and even purchased an ovulation tracking kit to help her figure out when she was most fertile.

She discovered she was pregnant in a matter of weeks.

“When the ovulation stick showed a smiley face, indicating a surge in fertility hormones, it didn’t make sense to me because I thought I was on my period,” Jorgie recalls.

“I took a pregnancy test, and when the results came back positive, Ollie and I were taken aback.

My ‘period’ turned out to be an implantation bleed, so we did four tests in one night to be sure. We even drove to Tesco at midnight to buy one!

I had no idea that was a thing until I looked it up on the internet.”

Jorgie started having strong pregnancy symptoms almost immediately.

“I couldn’t stop eating because I was exhausted, and my boobs swelled overnight.”

They were so huge, you could see them from the back!” she laughs.

“I was also irritated, and I didn’t want Ollie to touch me.”

It was out of character for me because I’m not usually hormonal or moody during my period.

“I thought I was going insane.”

Julie, Jorgie’s mother, is a twin with a complicated past…

My first feeling was excitement. I wasn’t thinking about the practicalities of raising four – I just started visualising our own mini football team or girl band.

As hard as it was losing them, I just have to believe that, for whatever reason, it wasn’t our time.

Miscarriage is still a taboo subject, but by speaking out, it’s a way of coping and helping other women realise that they’re not alone.
