KYM Marsh has branded EastEnders actress Maisie Smith ‘very silly’ after she was caught smoking a spliff while in her car.
Maisie, 19, was snapped puffing on a ‘strong smelling’ rolled-up cigarette earlier this month after pulling onto wasteland.
The actress, who plays Tiffany Butcher in the BBC One soap, quit Instagram after The Sun Online published the picture, though she has since reemerged on TikTok.
Former soap star Kym – who starred in ITV1’s Coronation Street until last year – has now had her say on the incident.
Kym wrote in her OK! magazine column: “This was a really silly thing to do. We all make mistakes and do things wrong, and hopefully this is something Maisie will learn from as she’s only 19.
“You are an ambassador for your show, so you have to make sure you uphold its values. I can’t imagine she will get away with it lightly.”
Maisie was snapped smoking in her car on Sunday July 19.
An eyewitness previously told The Sun that a strong smell seeped from her open window as she and a friend spent 40 minutes parked up after arriving at 3.50pm.
Maisie, who has starred in EastEnders since she was a child, was followed by police officers as she drove away from the area on Two Tree Island, Essex.
The onlooker said: “Locals know this area as a spot for people having a smoke.
“She had the window open and the smell was really strong. I couldn’t believe she was doing it while driving.”
Driving under the influence of cannabis can result in a minimum one-year driving ban, an unlimited fine and up to six months in prison.
Maisie lives in nearby Westcliff-on-Sea with her parents and sister Scarlett.
EastEnders, which Maisie first shot to fame in at the age of seven, did not comment when approached by The Sun Online.
