Legends of Ring of Honor are rumored to be performing tonight at AEW Dynamite.
Jay Lethal arrived during the Full Gear pay-per-view this past weekend and announced he had signed a full-time contract with All Elite Wrestling.
But, if Fightful Select’s latest report is to be believed, he may be trailed by a couple of other well-known ROH stars.
Both Jay and Mark Briscoe are expected to be backstage at AEW Dynamite tonight in Norfolk, Virginia, according to Sean Ross Sapp.
It’s unclear whether the two intend to sign, but just having them in the building is a good start.
The “Dem Boyz” are the most decorated tag team in Ring of Honor history, having won the ROH World Tag Team Championships 11 times and for a total of 1,263 days (both records).
Jay was also successful in singles competition, winning the Ring of Honor World Championship two times.
Following December’s Final Battle pay-per-view, Ring of Honor announced that it would be taking a break.
Shortly after, it was announced that all of the company’s wrestlers are now free to work for other companies, and that any contract that does not expire before the end of 2021 will only be recognized until March 31.
While AEW has already signed a number of free agents this year, it has always been open to bringing in new talent.
“You can’t wish away good talent,” Cody Rhodes said during a media conference call earlier this year. “I always tell a lot of my wrestling peers and people I use as a sounding board, ‘you can’t wish away good talent,’ especially when you get in a groove as a talent yourself.”
“And it’s not unlike Tony [Khan’s] world, which is the NFL and football in the United Kingdom. If there’s a free agent out there who can move the needle and be something significant for us… I think you have to go after them.”
Does this alter the show’s and roster’s landscape? Certainly, but it’s one of those situations where, as personal as it may be, it’s still business.
And nobody is safe from it.”
