NICK Cordero’s baby son Elvis has been watching videos of the Broadway star since he died from coronavirus complications earlier this week.
Nick’s wife Amanda shared a heartbreaking clip of their one-year-old beaming as he intently watched a clip of his late father on her phone.
The short clip was a message Nick had recorded for fans after releasing his song Live Your Life, which Amanda performed every day at 3pm outside the hospital where he battled coronavirus.
“A big thank you to those of you who have purchased or streamed my song Live Your Life,” Nick said in the video.
Amanda added that Elvis later picked up the phone and kissed the screen repeatedly while looking at Nick’s face.
The emotional Broadway actress said in the following clip: “So you guys, I have to tell you the cutest story.”
She went on: “I was showing Elvis videos of Nick, and this one video was Nick talking, like leaving a voicemail message for a friend, but he had it saved on his phone.
“And Elvis saw it and smiled and – I’m not even kidding you – leans in to the phone to give his dad a kiss, and then kept going.
“I kept playing the video again and he kept trying to press the button, and he just kept going in and out, kissing the phone and kissing his dad.
“My heart, of course, just melted, but in a way, it just made me feel so good because it made me feel like he recognizes Nick. He knows who he is and he recognizes his dad, even though it’s been over three months.”
Nick died on Sunday after spending 91 days in hospital battling coronavirus and complications stemming from the illness.
Amanda announced the devastating news with a black and white photo of her husband.
She wrote: “God has another angel in heaven now.
“My darling husband passed away this morning. He was surrounded in love by his family, singing and praying as he gently left this earth.”
Amanda added: “I am in disbelief and hurting everywhere. My heart is broken as I cannot imagine our lives without him. Nick was such a bright light.”
She later broke down in tears while hosting a heartbreaking singalong tribute to the theater star.
The two got married in September 2017 and welcomed son Elvis two years later.
Scrubs star Zach Braff, who worked on the same Broadway production as Nick and Amanda, mourned the loss of his best friend with a tribute on social media, in which he revealed the last text he received from Nick.
Zach shared: “The last thing he ever texted me was to look out for his wife and one year old son, Elvis.
“I promise the world they will never want for anything. I feel so incredibly grateful I got to have Nick Cordero enter my life.”
A slew of other celebrities paid tribute to the Tony award nominee, including Ariana Grande, Hilary Duff, Viola Davis and Hamilton star Lin-Manuel Miranda.
