On the 25th Anniversary of The Rock’s Survivor Series Debut, WWE Releases a Tribute
This week, Dwayne Johnson, also known as The Rock, celebrated the 25th anniversary of his WWE debut.
WWE has been paying tribute to “The People’s Champ” for the past month, but on Wednesday the company released a special six-minute mini-documentary about Johnson’s WWE debut.
Johnson, a third-generation wrestler, was quickly signed to WWF television in 1996 and made his in-ring debut as part of Jake Roberts’ four-man Survivor Series team at the following year’s Survivor Series.
While retweeting the video, Johnson wrote, “Want to take a moment to thank my @wwe family for this amazing look back on my wrestling career.”
“I just finished watching this, and one thing that stands out is that ANY success requires SO MANY TALENTED PEOPLE.
“I’ve changed my mind.”
[email protected] reflects on his life-changing debut as a WWE Superstar in 1996 at (hashtag)SurvivorSeries.
Johnson was recently interviewed by ComicBook while promoting his latest film, Red Notice, and was asked if he would return for another match.
In the past, the 10-time world champion has stated that facing his cousin, Roman Reigns, at WrestleMania would be “honorable.”
“I don’t know if I have another title run, considering I’m the People’s Champion, but I don’t know if it’s another title run,” Johnson said.
It had to be logical.”
“It seems like Roman, you know, I’m very close with Roman, and we talk about it all the time, and I continue to encourage him to keep doing what he’s doing, keep sharpening those skills,” he added.
“I think he’s doing a fantastic job with his promo, his execution, and his work in the ring.”
Everything keeps getting better and better.
And the best part about professional wrestling, in my opinion, is that when someone is anointed and given the ball to run with, they either score a touchdown or they don’t.
However, some people use it to not only score a touchdown, but also to change the way the game is played.
And in Roman’s case, he’s getting there slowly, and you could start reading the tea leaves.
And, once again, I’m extremely proud of him.
Everything he does appeals to me….
