PETER Andre has praised his “incredible” wife Emily for having chats with his teen daughter Princess that he’d feel “uncomfortable” having himself.
The 47-year-old star opens up about his relationship with his children in the upcoming final episode of series one of their reality show Life With The Andres, on The Sun’s YouTube channel.
In an exclusive preview of tonight’s show, Peter admits that it can be a struggle to divide his time equally between his four children, with the singer dad to 13-year-old Princess, 15-year-old Junior, six-year-old Amelia and three-year-old Theo.
He explains: “When you’ve got four children of all different ages, it’s really important that you split time between everybody.
“You’ve got to make sure that each child gets the attention that they need and the conversations that they need because they’re always at different stages of their lives.”
Peter continues: “I’m trying my best, and Emily of course does the same.
“She’s incredible and she has great conversations with Princess that maybe I wouldn’t necessarily feel that comfortable having – although I’m trying to get better at it.
“Same with Junior, he asks medical things that I wouldn’t know the answer to, it’s great I have that helping hand in Dr. Emily.”
In today’s episode, Peter tries to bond with Princess by setting aside quality father-daughter time, however it doesn’t go to plan as Princess cringes and even walks away while her dad tries to have a “pre-teenage chat” ahead of her birthday last week.
Reflecting on the outing, Peter says: “I always wanted to have that banter with my children so they feel comfortable talking to me about anything and if they have a problem they can come to me.
“Bista and I have a great relationship but when I took her to go and have father-daughter time and have an ice cream by the pond she was just not having it at all.
“But deep inside I know they love it and I know they love that they’ve got that relationship with me.
“You can have two children brought up the same way and they can have two completely different personalities; both of them are great, but both of them are challenging and both have their annoying habits, but I’m sure I do too as a dad.”
Discussing Princess’ 13th birthday, the star continued: “Bista being 13 is stressing me out no doubt, it’s a really scary time for any parent but she’s a very good girl and has so many wonderful qualities about her and is very respectful.
“We had a great birthday for her, she had the best time… She got some nice presents she asked for, including a smart TV she wanted for her bedroom, and two beautiful pet rabbits, which she adored.
“We had a TeePee put up and balloons too, my cousin Sophie bakes amazing cakes and she made an awesome cake for her. I know I spoil her but she is a very good girl and I thought she deserved it.”
Elsewhere in today’s episode of Life With The Andres, Peter and Emily kickstart Caudwell Children’s Butterflies and Rainbows campaign, which encourages supporters to paint a Butterflies and Rainbow picture and share it on social media before donating to the charity and nominating three friends to do the same.
Showing off their family’s creation, Peter explains: “Emily and I are proud ambassadors of Caudwell Children, I love the work they do and what they stand for.
“Charities are being left behind in this really crucial time, focus has shifted from charities to obviously coronavirus and all the problems coming from that.
“We wanted to help launch the campaign as a great way to raise money for Caudwell Children, we loved creating the rainbow and the butterfly, it’s a lovely idea to do as a family.
“Remember: Paint, donate, nominate.”
