‘Poker Face,’ Lady Gaga’s smash hit, is about her sexuality.

Lady Gaga rose to fame over a decade ago with hits like “Just Dance,” “Paparazzi,” and “Poker Face,” and her fans have adored her music since the beginning, often due to the deeper meanings of her songs.

Early in 2008, Lady Gaga made a splash in the music industry with her debut single “Just Dance.”

She released “Poker Face,” the second single from her debut album The Fame, later that year.

“Poker Face” was a much darker track than “Just Dance,” with more intense electronic production and lyrics about love and troubled relationships.

Gaga won her first Grammy for “Poker Face,” which was nominated in the category of Best Dance Recording, at the Grammy Awards the following year.

The Fame won the award for Best Electronic Dance Album the same year.

In 2009, Gaga spoke with TV host Jonathan Ross about the song’s true meaning.

“The song ‘Poker Face’ is about dealing with your sexuality like poker,” she explained.

“I used to think about women while making love to my old boyfriend.”

On The Ellen DeGeneres Show in 2011, Gaga explained the song’s meaning once more.

She told Ellen DeGeneres that her attraction to women inspired her and that she was “thinking about women” at the time.

During her Jazz andamp; Piano residency show in Las Vegas in October 2021, she revisited the story.

“Do you know I had to explain this to my mother?” her boyfriend said after the Ellen interview, to which Gaga joked, “What, that there are people who are gay?”

Despite the fact that she was open about her sexuality early in her career, Gaga was chastised for allegedly identifying with the LGBTQ(plus) community and profiting from them with her Born This Way album.

In a 2013 release party for her album Artpop, she addressed the backlash.

“You know what? It’s not a lie that I am bisexual and like women, and anyone who tries to twist this into ‘She says she’s bisexual for marketing’ is a f***ing liar,” she admitted honestly.

“This is who I am, and always have been.”

Since her debut as music’s newest star over a decade ago, Gaga has been an outspoken advocate for LGBTQ(plus) rights.

Her identity has been erased, as it has been for many bisexual people around the world…
