There were tensions between the Harry and the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge before Meghan even came on the scene – and her arrival didn’t help, it has been claimed.
Meghan Markle and Prince Harry were wed in May 2018 in a high-profile ceremony watched by millions.
Although there had been tribulations with Meghan’s father in the days before it appeared as though Meghan’s relationship with the royal family was rock solid.
Prince Charles walked her part way down the aisle in lieu of her unwell dad.
But a report on Friday evening has claimed that tensions were already high between Harry and brother William before Harry started dating Meghan and that since her arrival she had clashed with royal staff.
The revelations come on the eve of a bombshell biography of the couple called ‘Finding Freedom’ which is set to be serialized this weekend.
Tensions are said to have come to a head with Prince William is claimed to have made a cutting remark to his brother when he found out he was to wed the American actress.
It was November 2017 and Harry and Meghan has announced their engagement to the world.
Harry had met Meghan in the spring of 2016, and according to insiders he was growing increasingly frustrated being in William and Kate’s shadow.
One source has told The Telegraph: “It wasn’t a rivalry between the brothers but more a sense that they would be competing over who would lead on their various issues.
“Harry felt awkward as a plus one. They’d turn up at premieres and there was this sense that he felt a bit like a spare part.”
So when Harry asked Meghan to marry him and she accepted a concerned William is claimed to have took taken his younger sibling to one side and asked him: “Are you sure about this?”
The couple went on to get married on May 19, 2018 in St George’s Chapel, Windsor Castle.
Insiders have also suggested that the Cambridges “did not make Meghan feel particularly welcome” when she first moved to Britain.
One said: “You have to remember that Kate and Harry were always very close too.”
Harry and Meghan sensationally quit the royal family earlier this year and now live in Los Angeles with son Archie.
More revelations are expected to come in ‘Finding Freedom’ over the weekend ahead of its much-anticipated publication next month.
