Season 2 of ‘Bridgerton’ wraps production: ‘So Proud of This Cast and Crew’

Bridgerton season 2 has come to a close.

Chris Van Dusen, the show’s creator and showrunner, announced over the weekend that the hugely popular Netflix drama has wrapped filming on its new episodes, which will premiere in 2022.

“So proud of this cast and crew who brought their A-games to work each and every day in this very challenging year,” Van Dusen wrote on Twitter, praising returning star Jonathan Bailey, who plays Anthony Bridgerton, and newcomer Simone Ashley, who plays his love interest, Kate Sharma, in season 2.

“And these two, right here with me in this photo.

Words alone are insufficient.

In 2022.”

Season Two has come to an end, and I’m so proud of this cast and crew for bringing their “A” game to work every day during this extremely difficult year.

And these two are in this photo with me.

Words are insufficient.

In 2022, it will be available.

Tom Verica, Shondaland’s head of creative production and producer, also shared a photo of his director’s chair.

“Wait until you see what’s about to happen,” he said on Instagram.

Season 2 shifts the focus from the eldest daughter, Daphne (Phoebe Dynevor), who married Duke of Hastings Simon Basset (Regé-Jean Page) in season 1, to the eldest Bridgerton sibling, as previously announced.

The second installment of Julia Quinn’s best-selling novels, The Viscount Who Loved Me, will be adapted as Sir Anthony’s romance with Kate Sharma.

“I believe [showrunner]Chris Van Dusen has this incredible ability to take Julia Quinn’s extraordinary books and her incredible worlds, which she delicately filled with excitement and sexiness, and turn them into something truly amazing.”

When ET asked how closely the new season will follow the storyline in the books, Bailey said, “And he takes it to a whole new level.”

“So, the fact that we’re following Anthony’s search for love indicates that there will undoubtedly be some parallels.”

Meanwhile, composer Kris Bowers discussed how the series’ Emmy-nominated score will change as a result of the shift in focus and Page’s abrupt departure from the series.

“This is the most significant.
