Season 4 of ‘Ozark’: Everything We Know So Far About the Netflix Series’ End
What’s next? The Byrde family left a lot of loose ends at the end of Ozark season 3 — and there’ll be plenty more to discover when the show returns.
In July 2017, the Emmy-nominated series premiered on Netflix and quickly became a hit with viewers.
Throughout its first three seasons, the complex and intense story of Marty (Jason Bateman) and Wendy Byrde (Laura Linney) laundering money with their two children, Charlotte (Sofia Hublitz) and Jonah (Skylar Gaertner), captivated audiences.
As the Byrdes relocate to the Ozarks in the Midwest and dive deeper into the laundering business, Ruth Langmore (Julia Garner), Darlene Snell (Lisa Emery), Wyatt Langmore (Charlie Tahan), and Ben Davis (Tom Pelphrey) all become major players.
As the family’s involvement with the Mexican drug cartel — and its leader, Omar Navarro (Felix Solis) — becomes more complicated, they must continue to run their operation while avoiding death and prison time.
“I could see the potential not only for Wendy’s character, but also for the narrative, when I got the script and read it.
It was just ripe for the picking.
Linney told Collider in July 2017 that her decision to join the cast was “obvious right off the bat.”
“I had no intention of doing a series, but I’ve always admired Jason.”
I’d met him a few times for social reasons and had always admired him.
I’d always suspected and inherently known that he had a much broader range than he’d been able to explore, so I was ecstatic for him that he was willing to try something new.”
The Big C alum gushed about how “wonderful” the entire company and production team were right away.
“I feel like I’ve fallen into a honey pot.”
She went on to say, “It was a lot of fun.”
Netflix announced in June 2020 that the hit drama would be renewed for a fourth and final season.
The first official trailer was released more than a year later by the streaming service.
Marty and Wendy appear to reflect on how they got swept up in their scheme of things in the November 2021 teaser.
