Take a look inside Avatar: The Last Airbender’s Live-Action Remake.
The dream has become a reality!
With Netflix’s live-action adaptation of Avatar: The Last Airbender, fans will embark on a new mystical adventure.
The anime series based on the popular Nickelodeon show is back with a twist, and anime fans are overjoyed.
So, update your avatar and prepare for a new adventure, which showrunner Albert Kim hopes will “set a new standard in representation” and “attract a whole new generation of fans.”
Daniel Dae Kim (Lost), Paul Sun-Hyung Lee (The Mandalorian), Lim Kay Siu (Nightwatch) and Ken Leung (Star Wars: The Force Awakens) are among the cast members.
The adaptation is based on the 2005 animated series Aang and his friends, who fight to save the world by defeating the Fire-Nation.
The story of a young boy who embarks on a perilous mystic quest to fulfill his destiny as the Avatar enthralled millions of viewers around the world over three seasons.
“This was a chance to showcase Asian and Indigenous characters as living, breathing people,” Kim said of the Netflix spin-off, which he first watched with his daughter.
Not just in a cartoon, but in a real world that is very similar to our own.”
There will be surprises for existing fans, as well as the opportunity to do more with the story than was done in the original, according to the trailer.
Kim aims to please both Avatar fans who disliked M Night Shyamalan’s 2010 film adaptation and newcomers.
“I didn’t want to modernize or twist the story to fit in with current trends,” Kim explained.
“Aang will not be a gritty antihero.”
Katara will not be getting curtain bangs.
However, I was briefly tempted to open a TikTok account for Sokka.
Consider what you can do.”
