This Country’s Daisy May Cooper reveals crippling anxiety has left her unable to do live auditions

THIS Country’s Daisy May Cooper opened up about her crippling anxiety that has left her unable to do live auditions.

The actress – who plays Kerry Mucklowe in the BBC comedy – says she’s had to turn down roles because she can’t face the auditions.

Daisy suggested the audition anxiety stemmed from a particularly bad audition for Call The Midwife.

She told The Mirror: “I don’t do auditions any more, I can’t. There will be parts that I really want, but I will only do it on tape. I can’t be in the f***ing room.

“The anxiety I feel, it’s horrendous. I would much rather do it at home and not have to meet anybody… I crumble to s**t, I am terrible.”

She added about the Call the Midwife audition: “It wasn’t that I didn’t know the script, it was the fact that I f***ing hate auditions.

“I always say I am going to be really s**t on the first go, just give me time to warm up.

“I felt f***ing terrified. My agent called me the next day and said, ‘Yeah, that was a really, really bad audition. Are you OK? Do you need help with audition lessons?’ That absolutely killed me. It’s just awful.”

Daisy and her brother Charlie are the leads of popular comedy This Country, playing cousins Kerry and Kurtan Mucklowe.

The mockumentary – set in a working area of the Cotswolds – has won four BAFTA TV Awards.

Daisy announced she was pregnant with her second child in March of this year.

The Kerry Mucklowe star wrote: “Thrilled to say me and @willwestonlandscape are expecting another babber ❤️❤️❤️❤️.”

Fans including Jessie Wallace were delighted, with the EastEnders actress writing: “🙌🏼🙌🏼🙌🏼🙌🏼🙌🏼🙌🏼🙌🏼🙌🏼🙌🏼🙌🏼❤️.”

Daisy and Will, who are already parents to a daughter called Pip, married last September in the Cotswolds.
