Tom Holland tells a hilarious story about meeting Willem Dafoe in Spider-Man: No Way Home.
It’s been known for a while that the upcoming Spider-Man: No Way Home will bring back some of the most infamous villains from previous Spider-Man films, with villains like Alfred Molina’s Doctor Octopus and Willem Dafoe’s Green Goblin set to menace the webslinger.
The first teaser trailer hinted at the return of these two villains, but the most recent trailer showed them both in full, even hinting at some dialogue between them and Tom Holland’s Spider-Man.
Holland recounted the circumstances of his meeting with Dafoe, or rather, The Goblin, while speaking at the trailer premiere event earlier this week.

“When I first met Willem, it was actually a funny story,” Holland said.
“Obviously, it was a huge secret that all of the villains in the film were in the film at the time.”
So they’d walk around set in these cloaks, and you can tell these guys were so excited to be returning and bringing these roles back to life that they came to set a week before they started filming to see what it was like.
Meet director Jon Watts and myself, hang out on set, and have a good time.
I just happened to run into a cloaked figure.
‘Watch out, mate,’ I warned, and he removed his hood, which nearly scared me.
‘Oh sh-t, the Goblin has arrived.’ He was lovely, truly magnificent.
It was a real pleasure to work with him.”
At that point, Holland’s story about meeting Dafoe came to an end, but he teased another story that he couldn’t tell at the time but promised he would reveal later.
“There’s a story I’d like to tell but can’t, but I’ll do it and you’ll hear it one day; it’s very exciting, but it was incredible.”
“It’s absolutely incredible.”
Is there any connection between that story and the appearance of other Spider-Men in the movie?
“I understand why people are upset about the idea because I am a fan as well.”
When asked about an appearance, former Spider-Man Andrew Garfield told Variety, “You can’t help but imagine scenes and moments of ‘Oh, my God, how f-cking cool would it be if they did that?”
