Urinating on a fan by a ‘The Voice’ alum sparks a police report
Brass Against frontwoman Sophia Urista urinated on a fan while performing on stage, prompting a police report in Daytona, Florida.
The incident occurred last week and went viral on social media after a member of the audience captured it on camera.
Urista was seen on stage looking for someone in the audience willing to accept an extra to-go gift, and after selecting the lucky (or unlucky) person, she told the audience, “I have to pee, and I can’t make it to the bathroom.”
So we might as well put on a show.”
According to The Wrap, the singer discovered an empty water bottle and decided to use it as a prop while performing.
“Get my man with the can on his head ready,” she said, “because we’re bringing him onstage and I’ma piss in this motherf—er’s mouth.”
Fans on social media were clearly divided by the event.
One commenter wrote, “That’s the most punk rock thing I’ve seen in a long time.”
“Congratulations on a job well done.
“I’m going to have to catch the act,” said one Twitter user, who also called the situation “disgusting.”
After a fan complained to a police officer about the show, they were told to file a police report because it is illegal in Florida for “a person to expose his or her sexual organs in public or on the private premises of another, or so near thereto as to be seen from such private premises, in a vulgar or indecent manner.” The penalty for indecent exposure is a (dollar)1,000 fine and/or a maximum sentence of one year in jail.
Shortly after the “completely unexpected” incident, the band issued a statement quickly apologizing for the on-stage events.
“We had a great time at Welcome to Rockville last night.
Sophia “got carried away,” according to the statement.
“That’s not something the rest of us expected, and you won’t see it at any of our shows again.”
“Thanks for bringing it last night, Daytona,” Urista said. Urista first caught the attention of many fans during her 2016 audition for The Voice, which drew Miley Cyrus’ attention.
