Vick Hope and Jordan North will host the BBC Radio 1 drivetime show in place of Nick Grimshaw.

From Monday, September 6th, Vick Hope and Jordan North will fill Nick Grimshaw’s Radio 1 slot.

Nick Grimshaw has announced his departure from the BBC after 14 years of service.

On Wednesday, the radio host announced his decision live on air on BBC Radio 1, calling his time with the station a “childhood dream.”

Grimshaw began working for the BBC in 2007, and at the age of 27, he took over Chris Moyles’ breakfast show.

He went on to become the show’s second-longest-running host, before switching slots with Greg James and moving to drivetime in 2018.

Vick Hope and Jordan North, who will begin their duties on Monday, September 6th, will take over Grimshaw’s slot on Radio 1.

“We have some news! From September, the brilliant Vick Hope and Jordan North will take over Monday – Thursday afternoons from 3:30 – 6pm on Radio 1,” the station wrote on Twitter.

Hope, who has hosted a number of TV and radio shows, including Capital Breakfast from 2017 to 2020, as well as writing a children’s novel and reporting for a variety of publications, said: “What a craziness! Drivetime!!!”

“Having grown up listening to Radio 1 religiously every day, it means the world to me to be taking the reins at home-time with the incredible Mr North.”

“Grimmy is an absolute legend of the game; thank you mate for every laugh you’ve sent reverberating across the country! Taking over Drive is a task we won’t take lightly, but Jordan and I are ready to give it our all to make your journey home that little bit brighter.”

North, a weekend presenter on Radio 1, has covered the likes of Grimshaw and Scott Mills on a regular basis, earning the nickname “supply teacher” at the station, and was runner-up in last year’s series of I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here!

“I’m ecstatic to be moving to Radio 1 daytime, and even more ecstatic to be working alongside Vick,” he said.

“Grimmy is a Radio 1 legend, so we have big shoes to fill, but we’ll do our best.”
