VICTORIA Beckham has praised her sons’ “kindness and respect for women” following oldest child Brooklyn’s engagement.
The 46-year-old star opened up about motherhood and balancing her career with parenting in a new interview.
Offering a rare insight into her views on being a mum, the former Spice Girl admitted that she took the responsibility of raising her four children “very seriously”.
Victoria shares 21-year-old Brooklyn, 17-year-old Romeo, 15-year-old Cruz, and nine-year-old Harper with husband David Beckham.
Speaking to fashion photographer Alexi Lubimorski as part of his YouTube series, the star explained: “I feel really proud of our boys because they are turning out to be really good men.
“They work really hard and they’re kind, and being kind is key. I think everybody should be kind – there are so many horrible things going on in the world.
“With regards to [raising]boys, they always have to have respect for themselves, for others, for girls. Our boys have always had the utmost respect for everyone. Thats a key message, they have always been like that.”
Victoria said of her role as a mother: “Being a mum is the most important job in the world.
“I love what I do professionally and I take it very seriously but there is nothing more serious than having children.
“It’s your responsibility to bring up really good, good people so I take that responsibility seriously. I try to be the best mum, I try to be the best wife, and I try and be the best professional.”
And she went on to reveal that they really are as close-knit as they appear to be on social media, and that her children will always be her number one “priority”.
The fashion designer explained: “We’re a very close family. Communication and being present is key.
“I hope they feel that they’re our priorities, but it’s good they see mum and dad both go to work; we are very equal and I think that’s a positive message to put to the kids.”
Victoria’s poignant words come just under one week after it was announced that her oldest son Brooklyn had popped the question to US actress Nicola Peltz.
The pair had only recently returned to the UK and reunited with Brooklyn’s family after spending three months stranded in America due to lockdown rules.
Victoria and David were quick to throw an intimate engagement party for the loved-up couple at the weekend, and The Sun Online previously revealed that they even plan on buying Brooklyn and Nicola a marital home.
