During E! News’ Daily Pop on Thursday, Nov. 10, influencer Olivia Jade looked back on her Dancing With the Stars season 30 journey.
After being eliminated this week, he is now number 18 in the competition.
Olivia joked, “I thought I’d be voted off after episode two.”
“Three was a bit of a stretch.
It seemed impossible to get to eight, so the fact that we did was incredible.”
While Olivia expressed gratitude to viewers for seeing a “different side” of her, she denied reports that her DWTS appearance was part of a “redemption” narrative following her parents’ convictions in the Varsity Bluescollege admissions scandal.
“I’m not sure where that [rumor]came from, because I never said on the show, ‘This is my redemption story,'” Olivia Jade clarified.
“I believe that’s just how it’s turned out, and that’s how the story has progressed.”
I’ve only been riding it for a few days, but I didn’t go in thinking, “Oh, I need to redeem myself, so I’m doing this show.”
“At first, I was hesitant because I had no idea if I could dance,” Olivia explained.
I was scared to death.
Then I said yes, and I believe one thing led to another, and now people are calling it my redemption story.”
Olivia was encouraged to be more “vulnerable” in her endeavors by the support she received from dance partner Val Chmerkovskiy and DWTS fans.
“I think the most special thing I got out of it was just knowing that some people watched it and got to know me for who I am,” Olivia explained.
“I think for a long time I would put up this wall and act in a way that wasn’t really me, or I wouldn’t talk about things that were very personal to me because it didn’t hurt if people didn’t like it or I got a negative reaction.”
But now I think it’s such a great platform where I know I have to be honest and open with the audience because I believe that’s also helpful, particularly in certain topics.”
