It isn’t yet known what his chances of recovery are.

A 14-year-old boy is in a critical condition after falling off a roof while playing with friends.

Step-dad Shaun Shield told LincolnshireLive: “He is having an MRI scan very soon to find out the extent of the injuries, and how likely a recover is if at all, as sad as that is to admit.”

Reports say he had to have part of his skull removed and suffered a broken collarbone, several broken ribs and a bruised lung.

“He’s in intensive care. He’s had to have part of the front of his skull removed.”

In an emotional Facebook post, he added: “Can everyone please pray for Jack Osborne? He’s the little boy who had a fall yesterday in Bourne.

“The hospital acted quickly and effectively and the surgeon says he is happy with how his operation went.

Shaun went on: “He fell around 20ft through a roof. He was messing around with his pals like a lot of teenagers would do — I for one did many silly things like this, so a parent is not to blame.

“Love you lots mate, please stay strong.”

“He is critical but is alive. He’s in a coma and the doctors are doing a wonderful job.

Shaun explained Jack’s mum Karina and dad Dan had both been badly shaken, with some questioning why Jack had been allowed to play outdoors with friends during the coronavirus lockdown.

“There have been negative comments against her and this is not on at a time like this. Shame on these people.”

“Karina is beside herself and needs positive thoughts and prayers to help Jack make a recovery,” he said.

One woman wrote: “I hope this boy makes a full recovery and my heart goes out to his parents, who must be in bits right now.”

Many were quick to comment they hoped Jack recovered soon, with others adding they had done things they shouldn’t have done as teenagers.
