Parts of Lancashire remain under lockdown after Covid-19 cases spiralled out of control in parts of the north.

A party-loving idiot has been slapped with a £10k fine for organising a huge social-distance flouting bash.

Cops said they arrived at the party in the early hours of Sunday to find a 50 people and a DJ.

Lancashire police said: “During a busy weekend across the county, we have attended a number of reports of COVID regulation breaches at businesses and residential addresses.

Residents should not be meeting people outside their households – and certainly not be organising huge parties.

“When officers arrived in the early hours of this morning, around 50 people were there, along with DJ equipment.

We issued a £10,000 fixed penalty notice to the organiser of a significant house party in Darwen.

Darwen remains under lockdown restrictions after outbreaks of coronavirus.

“Lancs remains in the midst of a pandemic & we will take action & enforce the regulations where necessary, to protect your health and the health of our communities.”

According to the government: “If you live in one of the affected areas, in order to help prevent the spread of coronavirus you must not host people you do not live with in your home or garden, unless they’re in your support bubble.

It is against the law to hold a gathering of more than 30 people and fines of £10k are the maximum that can be dished out by police.

“[You must not] meet people you do not live with in their home or garden, whether inside or outside of the affected area, unless they’re in your support bubble”

Some social media users were quick to praise Lancashire Police for the stern punishment.

One person wrote “well done” as another commended their “great stuff”.
