British Transport Police were contacted following the death

The person was found to be a nude sunbather

A dead body sat on a train for several hours before anyone noticed as they could not get close due to coronavirus distancing guidelines.

A source told The Scottish Sun: “Due to the Covid-19 outbreak, conductors have been ordered not to interact with passengers.

It was a cleaner who made the grisly discovery at the central train dept on Saturday.

The death has been reported to the British Transport Police, according to the publication.

“This only task is to despatch trains safely. They spend the rest of the journey at the rear in their office. This poor fellow was dead on the train five hours before being found, which is heartbreaking in a civilised society.”

“They are not walking through carriages checking tickets and making sure everyone is OK, as they usually do.

But, police responding made a shocking discovery that the “corpse” was a perfectly healthy man who had decided the fine weather made it a perfect day for a little nude sunbathing.

Earlier this month, police were alerted to reports of a dead body on the railway near Grays, Essex.

It is understood to be the latest gruesome incident involving railways and trains.

They explained the unlikely story in a tweet: “Yesterday we had a call about a body within the railway boundary.

“Railway workers could only see a pair of feet but reported no signs of life.

“Rushing to the scene officers found a man in his late 30s enjoying some nude sunbathing.

“Please don’t sunbathe nude on the railway!”
