Delighted family members turned up to the home the couple share in Houston yesterday morning with banners and balloons as Murdoch was brought home.
Margaret, 82, said: “He is now back where he should be and I can only hope that he will continue to get stronger every day.
“I’m so glad that we can put it all behind us now and get back to our lives together.”
“The last time I was with him was because the doctors thought that was it and he wasn’t going to survive.
“It has been a hard 15 weeks knowing he was in hospital and not being able to see him.
The Express previously told how Murdoch was rushed to hospital in March after Margaret returned home from a walk to find he had fallen and split his head.
It was once he was admitted that he was given the test for Covid-19 – which came back positive.
