Hundreds of covidiots have been filmed on Snapchat at an illegal “quarantine rave”.
Hundreds of people took to social media on Sunday morning to condemn the actions of ravers during the ongoing pandemic.
Witnesses told the Manchester Evening News how the rave appeared to be around the water treatment centre in front of the paper mill. One person claimed there were ‘thousands’ of people in attendance.
One woman wrote on Facebook: “Every selfish person who went to this last night should be ashamed. Stupidity, inconsiderate idiots.”
Mass gatherings remain illegal as the country begins to emerge from strict coronavirus lockdown measures.
A third wrote: “Absolutely ridiculous. Imagine going to a ‘rave’ in the middle of such a horrendous pandemic.”
Another posted: “Absolutely disgusted at the Quarantine Rave in Daisy Nook last night. Everyone who attended should be ashamed of themselves.”
Dressed in party gear, those in the crowds appear to be on their way to the event in Carrington, with reports circulating of a stabbing having taken place later in the evening.
Photographs appeared to capture the moment hundreds of revellers gathered to stream into the illegal rave in Trafford.
Assistant Chief Constable Chris Sykes said: These raves were illegal and I condemn them taking place – they were clearly a breach of Coronavirus legislation and guidelines, and have had tragic consequences.”
“A 25-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of possession of an offensive weapon and enquiries remain ongoing to locate the suspects involved in these incidents. I would also ask anyone with footage that could assist our enquiries to upload them to scd.cctv.gmp.police.uk so that our team can review it.
He added: “Two other men – aged 25 and 26 – were also left with injuries after these separate assaults.
“Anyone with information is asked to contact police as soon as possible.
“Sadly, officers attempting to engage with participants of this gathering were met with violence, resulting in items being thrown and a police car being vandalised.
“We are also investigating the rape of an 18-year-old woman who attended this event and we have specialist officers supporting her and her family whilst enquiries are ongoing to trace the suspect.
