The guidelines also encourage couples to masturbate together as they can remain at a safe social distance while doing so.

New guidelines issued by the city of New York have told people to “be creative with sexual positions” and not to be afraid to make sessions “a little kinky” to lower the risk of spreading coronavirus.

“Be creative with sexual positions and physical barriers, like walls, that allow sexual contact while preventing close face to face contact,” the guidelines say.

The guidelines provide bad news for anyone wanting to host a sex party anytime soon, as sex between more than two people as “large gatherings of any type are not safe during Covid-19”.

Those planning to have sex with someone outside their household, meanwhile, are advised to pick a trusted partner who is happy to discuss the risk factors.

The transmissibility of the killer bug through sexual intercourse is yet to be studied closely, though scientists have found traces of Covid-19 in men’s semen.

Other parts of the US have released similar guidelines, with Austin in Texas advising people to “stay physically distant from your honey” before listing creative suggestions for social distancing.

It says people should find larger open spaces with good ventilation, and warns against meeting people from online and instead stick to “sexy ‘Zoom parties'”.

Speaking at the No.10 Downing Street press conference on Wednesday, June 10, Prime Minister Boris Johnson confirmed a new “bubble system” is to be introduced on Saturday that will allow English people living alone to meet up with members of another household indoors.

It comes following the news many single people up and down the country have been waiting for since lockdown began – they will soon be able to have sex with someone they don’t live with for the first time since March 23.

Socialising in such a way, including getting frisky between the sheets, had technically been made illegal in April when new coronavirus legislation was introduced.

Guidance has already been issued by doctors that you should wait 30 days before having sex if you had coronavirus.
