Reports by The Sun suggest that Brand was flouting the lockdown rules and getting up close and personal with fans for selfies just moments after coming off stage, while neither Russell nor the fans wore face coverings.

The comedian, 45, took to the stage at Regent’s Park Open Air Theatre in north London to deliver his cleverly titled Brand-emic show on Monday night, following the coronavirus theme.

Russell is said to have joked about the “poor attendance”

Russell Brand has reportedly breached the coronavirus social distancing rules, just hours after the new rule of six came into force.

“I’d better go, I’m flouting social distancing rules here,” he is believed to have said.

Russell was reportedly asked by members of his entourage to stop greeting fans according to the publication.

The recent law which was implemented by Prime Minister Boris Johnson last week states that people cannot gather in groups of more than six both indoors and outdoors in England.

During one part of the show, Russell announced that his usual audience would “almost certainly” be infected with the deadly coronavirus.

However, the show wasn’t actually poorly attended – the audience was cut by one third in order to maintain social distancing.

The publication also claims that Russell said he wanted to “walk the f**k” off stage due to poor attendance at the north London venue.

“Who here’s been going out, doing drugs, licking things? You f***-ups.”

Speaking about face masks, which are compulsory in stores and on public transport, he ranted: “I don’t know if they work or not, we can’t tell can we? What does the science say? I don’t know any more.
