KANDAHAR, Afghanistan, Feb. 19 (Xinhua) — At least 15 militants were confirmed killed in the airstrike launched by government forces on Taliban hideouts in Afghanistan’s southern Kandahar province on Thursday, said an army statement released here Friday.
The airstrike targeting militants in areas in the Arghandab and Zhari districts on Thursday afternoon killed 15 insurgents and injuring nine others, said the statement.
A total of 17 anti-vehicle mines had been discovered and defused in the involved areas, the statement added.
Taliban militants who have intensified activities in Kandahar province with Kandahar city as its capital 450 km south of the national capital Kabul are yet to make comment on the government-side report. Enditem
