Argentine football roundup: Nine-man Argentinos Juniors account for Arsenal Sarandi

BUENOS AIRES, March 27 (Xinhua) — Argentinos Juniors had two players sent off in the last 15 minutes but held on to secure a 3-2 home win over Arsenal Sarandi in Argentina’s Primera Division on Saturday.

Jonathan Sandoval, Gabriel Alvaros and Elias Gomez all struck second-half goals for the hosts while Alan Ruiz and John Candia netted either side of the interval for Arsenal.

Argentinos Juniors finished the match with nine men after Gabriel Avalos received a second yellow card for a bad foul and Gabriel Hauche was dismissed for violent conduct.

Arsenal defender Mateo Carabajal was also ordered off for a second bad foul in the last minute of normal time.

The result left Argentinos Juniors seventh in the 13-team Group A standings while Arsenal remain last with just one point from their seven matches so far.

In other fixtures on Saturday, Central Cordoba drew 2-2 at Rosario Central, Colon won 3-1 at home to Platense and Banfield drew 1-1 at Aldosivi. Enditem
