Clash leaves 6 militants dead in N. Afghanistan


MAZAR-I-SHARIF, Afghanistan, March 25 (Xinhua) — Six militants have been confirmed dead as clash erupted in Balkh district of the northern Balkh province on Wednesday, said a statement of the army released here Thursday.

The clash, according to the statement, flared up in the restive Balkh district of the Balkh province on Wednesday afternoon, and lasted for a while during which six insurgents had been killed and three others sustained injury.

A hideout of the insurgents was utterly smashed during the clash, the statement added.

The Taliban outfit, which is active in parts of Balkh province with Mazar-i-Sharif as its capital 305 km north of Kabul has yet to make comment. Enditem
