GUAYAQUIL, March 29 (Xinhua) — Fidel Martinez and Michael Estrada scored either side of halftime as Ecuador secured a 2-1 home victory over Bolivia in their international friendly here on Monday.
Martinez put the hosts ahead in the 37th minute by firing in from close range after the winger’s initial header was parried back into his path by goalkeeper Javier Rojas.
Estrada made it 2-0 on the hour mark when he weaved past two defenders and rifled a low shot into the bottom right corner.
Bolivia struck in the 94th minute through Rodrigo Ramallo, who latched onto Marcelo Moreno’s back pass with a vicious first-time volley from 25-yards that left goalkeeper Alexander Dominguez with no chance.
The friendly was hastily organized after this month’s scheduled double-header of South American qualifiers for the 2022 FIFA World Cup was postponed because of the coronavirus pandemic. Enditem
