RIO DE JANEIRO, March 27 (Xinhua) — Former Bayern Munich and Brazil international right-back Rafinha has reached a deal to join Gremio on a nine-month contract, according to widespread media reports on Saturday.
The 35-year-old was signed as a free agent, having parted ways with Greek side Olympiacos by mutual consent in February.
Gremio are understood to have beaten off interest in the defender from his former club Flamengo and Atletico Mineiro.
Rafinha, who signed with Olympiacos on a free transfer from Flamengo last August, made 22 appearances for the reigning Greek Super League champions.
Capped four times for Brazil’s national team, Rafinha’s career has included spells at Bayern Munich Genoa and Schalke, among other clubs. Enditem
