Indonesian police seize 5 bombs, explosives during terrorist raids

JAKARTA, March 29 (Xinhua) — The Indonesian police seized five active bombs and triacetone triperoxide (TATP) explosives during the terrorist raids in West Java province and East Jakarta city, police officers said on Monday.

“We found five active bombs with the type of axle that are ready for use,” the National Police’s Chief General Listyo Sigit Prabowo told a press conference.

At a separate press conference, the Jakarta Police’s Chief Inspector General Fadil Imran said the triacetone triperoxide explosives are flammable chemical compounds having high explosive power.

“Five large jars of TATP explosives can be used to make 70 pipe bombs,” Imran explained.

From the two locations, the police also arrested four suspected terrorists serving as a planner, a buyer of explosives, a trainer and a bomb maker respectively.

Imran said they were suspected of violating Law Number 5 of 2018 about the Eradication of Criminal Acts of Terrorism with a minimum sentence of 15 years in prison. Enditem
