BISHKEK, March 30 (Xinhua) — Children’s playgrounds in shopping malls will be closed in the Kyrgyz capital of Bishkek due to increasing COVID-19 cases, the city’s vice mayor announced on Tuesday.
The playgrounds will be shut down for two weeks beginning April 1, Aizhan Chynybaeva said at a briefing when announcing the temporary measures.
He said all shopping centers and public transportation were checked to comply with sanitary and epidemiological standards.
An increase in the number of COVID-19 cases was observed in Bishkek, said Ainura Akmatova, head of the Public Health Department of the Ministry of Health of Kyrgyzstan.
Bishkek was the most hit area by the COVID-19 epidemic in Kyrgyzstan with a total of 30,176 confirmed cases.
Kyrgyzstan started the first stage of its COVID-19 vaccination campaign using the Chinese vaccine on Monday.
Doctors in intensive care units, infectious diseases hospitals, ambulances working in the red zone, as well as teachers, border guards, customs officers, law enforcement and security officials will be vaccinated first. Enditem
