Shoppers at a mall in Dallas, Texas, have evacuated as police hunt for a suspected shooter – with one person said to have been injured.
Customers at the Galleria Mall are reported to have heard gunshots with some running out before police arrived and put the third floor Nordstrom store on lockdown.
Officers are reviewing CCTV footage as they search for the suspect.
An ambulance took an injured person from the scene to Park Land Hospital, police have confirmed.
The incident happened sometime after 7pm local time on Tuesday.
Dallas Police tweeted around 8pm: “One person was shot inside the Galleria Mall. The suspect is currently at large at this time.
“DFR transported the complainant to Park Land Hospital, unknown condition.
“Officers are reviewing video and cameras and searching the mall for the suspect.
“Not an active shooter case.”
CBS News 11 reporter JD Miles said sources claim officers were searching each store one by one looking for the “person who fired multiple shots”.
One witness – who was in the mall ice-skating at the time the incident started – told Mr Miles in a video interview outside: “I saw people running from upstairs – there were gunshots or loud sounds.
“I looked up, saw people running. I ran off the ice and went to go hide.
“I heard maybe nine gunshots from the top floors – maybe third or fourth. I got off, I got my bag, I ran to the panic room.
“From what I’ve seen, I know there was a shooter. He stayed in the building, I don’t know where he is now.”
Mr Miles later tweeted that the shooting “started as a dispute between two people”.
“One person wounded and was able to walk out of mall to an ambulance.
“DPD flooded with 911 calls from stores such as Express and Forever 21 where people were huddling and taking cover.”
Nearby resident Taylor Bearanowski tweeted a photo of what appears to be a gunflash.
He said: “What a wild scene here at the Galleria.
“My apartment opens up across the street to the third floor Nordstrom’s where the shooter started.
“TONS of police, ambulance, fire and choppers on scene. Looking like they don’t have the shooter yet.”
The mall is located at the intersection of Interstate 635 and the Dallas North Tollway in the North Dallas neighborhood of Dallas, Texas.
