Malaysia reports 1,133 new COVID-19 cases, 5 deaths


KUALA LUMPUR, March 30 (Xinhua) — Malaysia reported 1,133 new COVID-19 infections, the Health Ministry said on Tuesday, bringing the national total to 344,018.

Health Ministry Director-General Noor Hisham Abdullah said in a press statement that eight of the new cases are imported and the remaining 1,125 are local transmissions.

Five more deaths have been reported, bringing the death toll to 1,265.

Another 1,148 patients have been released after recovery, bringing the total number of cured and discharged to 328,554 or 95.5 percent of all cases.

Of the remaining 14,199 active cases, 161 are being held in intensive care and 76 of those are in need of assisted breathing. Enditem
