A man has been arrested after shooting and killing a teenager while playing a game with his gun.
According to court documents, Spencer Chase Pruitt told police he regularly points his gun at friends and pulls the trigger – but it never fires.
Tragically last week he shot 19-year-old Victoria “Tori” Lynn Busch, who was visiting friends in Florida.
The teenager, described as a “genuine kind soul”, suffered a fatal neck injury and died in hospital as medics desperately battled to save her life.
Pruitt, 24, told investigators he had no idea why the weapon discharged on this occassion.
An affidavit seen by AJC states: “He points his firearm at friends and pulls the trigger, but it does not fire.
“On this date, in his own statement, he stated he always does and does not know why his gun fired a round this time.”
Pruitt was charged with manslaughter and booked into Bay County Jail.
Tori’s friend Linda Corriveau said: “She was just a good girl that brought happiness to a lot of people and was such a positive in everyone’s lives.”
A GoFundMe page has been set up in her memory to support her family.
The appeal states: “It is with a heavy heart that I write this.
“In the early morning of Monday September 7, my dear friends Brian and Kelly Busch lost their precious baby girl Victoria “Tori” Lynn Busch.
“Tori was tragically shot and killed in Panama Beach City Florida, a violent and senseless loss of life.”
It continues: “Tori, described as a “goofball” by friends, had a zest for life and lit up a room the minute she walked in.
“She was a well-rounded energetic young woman who was just as comfortable in jeans and a T-Shirt as she was all dolled up in one of her many prom dresses (which she confidently rocked with her converse sneakers and cowgirl boots)- just a beautiful soul.
“Tori loved life, she enjoyed traveling with her family and spending time with her many friends.
“Tori had a passion for caring for young children and would have one day made a wonderful mother herself.
“She was through and through a genuine kind soul with a huge heart.”
