Police arrest 2 terrorist suspects in Indonesia’s East Java

JAKARTA, March 31 (Xinhua) — The Indonesian police’s anti-terror squad Densus 88 arrested two terrorist suspects in the districts of Tulungagung and Nganjuk, East Java province, on Tuesday, a police officer said.

A suspect identified as NMR was held in Tulungagung and another one with initial LAM was apprehended in Nganjuk, the East Java police spokesman Senior Commissioner Gatot Repli Handoko said in the province’s capital of Surabaya on Wednesday.

The police seized two homemade weapons and a book, Handoko was quoted by Antara news agency as saying.

“We are informed that the two suspected terrorists belong to the banned radical organization Jamaah Asharut Daulah,” he said, adding that the suspects have links to the perpetrators of a suicide bombing attack in front of the cathedral church in South Sulawesi province’s city of Makassar on Sunday.

He said the police are still probing into the case. Enditem
