Police destroy heroin lab in E. Afghanistan


JALALABAD, Afghanistan, March 31 (Xinhua) — The Counter-Narcotic Police have raided a suspected hub of drug smugglers and destroyed a heroin lab in Shirzad district of Aghan eastern Nangarhar province, said a statement of the provincial government released here on Wednesday.

According to the statement, units of Counter-Narcotic Police stormed a suspected place in Shirzad district in the wee hours of Wednesday, destroying a heroin lab and discovering a variety of illicit drugs including 25 kg opium poppy, 240 kg morphine and the items used in manufacturing heroin.

Without providing more details, the statement added that police would continue to target illicit drugs and those involved in trafficking drugs. Enditem
