Sichuan snaps Qingdao’s 6-game winning streak in CBA


ZHUJI, China, Feb. 3 (Xinhua) — Marcus Hunt’s free throw in the last second helped Sichuan edge Qingdao 110-109, putting an end to the latter’s six-game winning streak in the CBA here on Wednesday.

After a seesaw battle almost throughout the game, the critical moment came in the dying minutes as Han Shuo hit a 3-pointer to expand the gap before Qingdao’s Wang Qingming tied it 109-all with a key 3-pointer with just 22 seconds left.

In the last second, Hunt made one of two free throws to seal the victory for Sichuan.

Hamed Haddadi finished with a game-high 30 points for Sichuan, plus 13 rebounds and eight assists. Li Yuanyu collected 10 points and 14 rebounds, while Hunt contributed 24 points.

“We were really prepared. And it was a challenge for players’ physical ability today,” Sichuan head coach Zhou Jinli said.

“We will spare no pains in the next game which will be our last game in this session,” he added.

For Qingdao, Dakari Johnson hit a double-double with 29 points and 15 rebounds. Darius Adams and Wang Qingming each got 23 points. Lin Weihan finished with six assists. Enditem
