ISLAMABAD, Feb. 15 (Xinhua) — A soldier was killed as terrorists attacked a paramilitary troops check post in Pakistan’s southwestern Balochistan province, an army statement said on Monday.
The terrorists raided a Frontier Corps check post on a highway in the province on Sunday night, the military’s media wing Inter-Services Public Relations said in the statement.
“Area has been cordoned off and escape routes have been blocked to apprehend the fleeing terrorists,” the statement said.
An operation to search and apprehend the fleeing militants and sanitize the area from them has been kicked off following the incident, the statement added.
No group or individual has claimed responsibility for the attack yet.
A wave of terrorism resurged in Balochistan with an increase in terrorist attacks on security forces and civilians over the last three months.
Earlier this month, two people were killed and 19 others injured in two separate attacks on public rallies in the province.
In response to the increase in terrorist activities, the provincial government launched an operation to nab terrorists last month. Enditem
