TOKYO, March 26 (Xinhua) — Tokyo stocks closed higher Friday on increased optimism for the outlook of the U.S. economy following data showing an improved labor environment and momentum with vaccine rollouts.
The 225-issue Nikkei Stock Average gained 446.82 points, or 1.56 percent, from Thursday to close the day at 29,176.70.
The broader Topix index of all First Section issues on the Tokyo Stock Exchange, meanwhile, added 28.61 points, or 1.46 percent, to finish at 1,984.16.
Marine transportation, precision instrument, and land transportation issues comprised those that advanced the most by the close of play. Enditem
