Barcelona had Thiago on their books before the player joined Bayern Munich in the summer transfer window of 2013.
Barcelona would love to re-sign Bayern Munich star Thiago, according to reports. The Spain international is supposedly keen to return to La Liga, over six years since his transfer to the Allianz Arena.
Barcelona sold Thiago at a time where the Spain international’s path to the first team was blocked by iconic trio Sergio Busquets, Xavi and Andres Iniesta.
Since then, the Spain international has forged a name for himself over in Germany, helping Bayern Munich remain the Bundesliga’s biggest force.
He has played 214 times for Bayern since his move, driving the German giants to 13 trophies along the way.
But German newspaper Bild claim the 28-year-old is preparing to leave the club, having deemed the time right for a new challenge.
He supposedly has his heart set on a return to La Liga.

Thiago is refusing to talk to Bayern about a new contract, despite the Bundesliga champions wanting to tie him down for the future.
And Barcelona would love to bring him back to the Nou Camp, where he’d compete with Busquets, Frenkie de Jong, Arturo Vidal and Ivan Rakitic for a starting berth.
Thiago opened up on his move away from Barcelona last year, saying the lack of guarantees over first team football was behind his thinking.
“I have always wanted to play and since that wasn’t possible with Barca I had to leave to find the joy in playing football again,” he said.
“To me playing is more important than winning a trophy.
“In the end you always ask yourself, ‘To what extent I have contributed to the win?’
“I will always be grateful to Barcelona, but I left because I didn’t want to be just one of the many.
“We, the players that were (working to make the first team), always had the dream to reach the first team and, once we get there, we want to play and know that we can become regulars.
“When that’s not possible, it’s the moment you should leave.
“That’s what I did, leaving Barcelona was my decision.”
On a return to Barcelona, he said: “I am only focused on the current season, I am not thinking beyond that.
“The comparisons with Xavi and Iniesta? I never liked being compared to them, because they are incomparable.”
Thiago could feature for Bayern when they go up against Tottenham in their Champions League showdown tonight (8pm).
The Bundesliga giants won 7-1 when the two sides faced off earlier this season.
