A BRITISH couple were waiting anxiously at the bedside of their baby son after he was swept into the sea from a boat in the Med.
They were among a group who had hired a £25,000-a-week luxury vessel for a cruise.
The family were on a tender going ashore at Saint-Raphael in southern France when a freak wave threw their lad of three months into the sea.
Witnesses said there was a strong wind and the boat pilot was trying to drop anchor as the drama happened.
The frantic parents managed to rescue the baby from the water and paramedics took him to hospital in nearby Frejus.
An official there said: “The couple were understandably very shocked but the baby was saved and is now under observation in hospital, but should be OK.”
