Don’t make fun of ‘woke’ kids; they’re ‘just being nice,’ according to a top school principal.

‘This so-called ‘woke’ generation is actually young people who care about things,’ says Samantha Price, president of the Girls’ School Association.

A leading private school head has warned that young people should not be dismissed as “woke,” and adults who feel unable to say certain things due to political correctness must accept that “times have changed.”

Samantha Price, headmistress of Benenden School in Kent and president of the Girls’ School Association, which represents over 100 girls’ private schools, chastised adults who mock young people for being “woke,” “snowflakes,” or promoting “cancel culture.”

She will praise young people for supporting the Black Lives Matter movement, as well as campaigns against sexual harassment, gender identity, and climate change, in a speech at the GSA conference in Manchester on Monday.

“It’s fair to say that these are issues that our students are genuinely concerned about, that they believe they have a responsibility to address, and that they expect us to lead and support them in doing so,” she will say.

“They will inherit this world from our generation, and it is their responsibility to fix it.”

“Every generation believes the older generation does not understand them,” she is expected to say during her speech.

“There have been many references to this generation being ‘woke’ – in a derogatory sense – and adults commenting that today’s teenagers speak a different language to them and that they can’t say anything without being corrected or ‘called out’ by these politically correct – or ‘woke’ – children in recent years.

“As parents and school leaders, we can probably all relate to this to some extent, but I’m getting tired of hearing the older generation say things like ‘you can’t say anything anymore.’

The fact is that times have changed, and all we have to do now is keep up.

“It would be unforgivable for the older generation to close its mind to new ideas, to retreat to ‘the good old days,’ and to dismiss the energetic changes of this generation with dismissive tones and sighs.”

“This so-called ‘woke’ generation is,” she’ll add.
