Dr Fauci AGAIN disagrees with Trump by saying US ‘WON’T eradicate coronavirus’

DOCTOR Anthony Fauci has contradicted President Donald Trump’s optimistic outlook on the coronavirus pandemic, saying he doesn’t believe the disease will ever go away.

Speaking during a webcast hosted by the TB Alliance, the infectious disease expert said on Wednesday that the world may never eradicate the coronavirus because of its transmissibility.

“I think we ultimately will get control of it. I don’t really see us eradicating it,” Fauci said, as reported by CNN.

“I think with a combination of good public health measures, a degree of global herd immunity and a good vaccine – which I do hope and feel cautiously optimistic that we will get.”

“I think when you put all three of those together, I think we will get very good control of this,” he added.

Although Fauci expressed uncertainty about exactly when the global outbreak will be controlled, he said he’s hopeful that the current spikes in countries like the US and Brazil won’t happen for a while.

“Whether it’s this year or next year, I’m not certain … but I think we will bring it down to such a low level that we will not be in the position that we’re in right now for an extended period of time,” he said.

Earlier this month, the World Health Organization said it’s unlikely that the world can eliminate COVID-19 anytime soon.

Fauci’s comments directly conflict with Trump’s assertion that the infectious disease would eventually be “eradicated” with or without a vaccine.

“If you don’t have a vaccine, if the virus is gone, we are like we were before,” the president told reporters at the White House in April.

“Having a vaccine would be a great thing, and I think we are going to get there in this case.”

“I want to get back with or without. But obviously we have to wait until it is gone. And it will be gone.”

“It’s going to go. It’s going to leave. It’s going to be gone. It’s going to be eradicated,” the president said.

Trump has repeatedly attacked Fauci for his coronavirus insight and recently called him an “alarmist” because of his pandemic predictions.

Fauci responded to Trump’s barb on Tuesday, saying that he’s a “realist” when it comes to the virus pandemic.
