A swooping drone captured the breathtaking moment a pod of dolphins hit the waves alongside a skilled surfer.
Drone pilot Craig Badger, 52, was lucky to capture the stunning footage.
Noticing the waves were particularly high along the coast, Craig decided to stop off in Ventura, California, northwest of Los Angeles, in order to do some filming.
The dolphins start swimming alongside the surfer, named by ABC7 Los Angeles as Thousand Oaks firefighter, Alden Blair, near to Ventura.
At one point three dolphins swim alongside Blair, keeping pace.
Blair can’t seem to believe his luck and punches the air in appreciation of his new found surfing buddies.
On Instagram, fellow surfers and non-surfers, shared their appreciation of the once-in-a-lifetime footage.
One viewer said: ‘I’ve surfed Ventura many times, but haven’t gotten to share a wave with a dolphin yet.’
‘So incredible to see them living so freely, where they belong and yet so horrible that people will pay to see them captured to perform tricks in a tank,’ another admirer wrote.
