E-sports: Danish Astralis become Counter-Strike world champions

COPENHAGEN, Dec. 14 (Xinhua) — Danish Counter-Strike specialists Astralis beat Team Liquid in this year’s final e-sports tournament, the Blast Pro Series Global Final in Copenhagen on Saturday.

The Astralis team said that they wanted to end the year on a high note and true to their word, and that they were by far the stronger team and comfortably won the first map 16-11.

Team Liquid attempted to ruin the Astralis party with some novel play in the second map. No matter how much pressure they applied, the experienced Danish team soaked it up and won 16-12.

With no need for a third map, Astralis beat Team Liquid 2-0.

In addition to the title, Astralis scooped 350,000 U.S. dollars in prize money. Team Liquid earned 80,000 dollars.
