European Space Agency Picks Leicester for Pioneering Tech Incubator Scheme

Leicester’s £100m Space Park – which you can watch being built live for something to do – has secured additional investment from the EU despite all the fuss and angry flag waving we’ve been doing at it, with no less a body than the European Space Agency agreeing to fund a Business Incubation Centre for space technologies on the new site.

The ESA is putting money into other UK space tech development hotbeds at Oxford’s Harwell Campus, Sci-Tech Daresbury, and Edinburgh’s Royal Observatory too, with ESA’s BIC UK operations manager Dr Sue O’Hare saying: “The UK is the leading funder in Europe for space business applications, and the addition of Space Park Leicester to our business incubation programme provides an exciting opportunity to widen our support for start-ups across the vibrant and growing East Midlands space cluster and beyond.”

“…vibrant and growing East Midlands space cluster” is your dystopian sentence of the day. [Business Live]
