Chelsea and Manchester United are set to lock horns on Monday in a massive Premier League top-four encounter at Stamford Bridge
Frank Sinclair has backed Chelsea to take revenge on Manchester United when the bitter rivals clash at Stamford Bridge next week.
United travel to the Blues on Monday for what promises to be a huge game in the race to secure a top four finish and Champions League qualification.
Frank Lampard’s men are three places above United in fourth and six points better off than the fallen giants.
But United can halve the deficit with a win and will go to Stamford Bridge in confident mood following their 4-0 drubbing of the Blues on the opening day of the season.
Sinclair, who made 169 appearances for the Blues and won three major trophies with them, reckons his old club will be too strong for United.
Sinclair, speaking exclusively to GentingBet , said: “Chelsea will win the game against Manchester United.
“I actually take a lot of confidence from the 4-0 defeat in the last league fixture between the two sides.
“I certainly thought Chelsea didn’t deserve to be on the back of a 4-0 loss.
“For me, they could have been two or three goals up themselves at half time.
“So I take confidence from that game and if Chelsea play as well as they did and take their chances this time around, I think they will win the game.”
Sinclair also believes the Blues have a much brighter future than United do under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, due to having brighter talent coming through the ranks.
He added: “Frank has done a great job at Chelsea but the comparison to Ole’s situation is a little unfair when you look at Chelsea’s squad compared to United’s.
“Frank has done a terrific job. When he took over, there was no policy that he had to play the youngsters.
“He’s played the youngsters because they’ve shown they’ve been good enough in and around training. They’ve impressed him.
“It’s a little bit unfair to judge them up against each other because I don’t think Ole Gunnar Solskjaer had those riches.
“Yes, they’ve got a couple of young players coming through now that are doing really well, but you look at the choices that Frank’s got out of his youngsters compared to Ole’s – it is very difficult to compare them.”
Chelsea have lost twice to United in the 2019/20 campaign, with Lampard’s side also suffering a 2-1 defeat at Stamford Bridge in the last 16 of the Carabao Cup.
